Prez Wins Nobel

That's former President Jimmy Carter. Congratulations to him. The timing of this award is significant however. The Norwegian organization is sending a message to Americans: this is the kind of US president the whole world can get behind and it's unfortunate the current US president isn't more like him. Too bad the US is not now acting toward Iraq like it did toward Iran in 1979. Too bad Bush doesn't hammer out a peace with Sharon and Arafat in Camp David like Carter did with Begin and Sadat. Too bad the US is defending itself.

Post 9/11, the majority of Americans are happy (relieved) that Gore didn't win. Imagine a Carter presidency instead. (Maybe that's too nightmarish - save it for Halloween.)

The Nobel Peace Prize is becoming as meaningless as the Grammys. I'm wondering when Robert Mugabe and Eminem will be awarded Nobels.
